1992 - Eni transformation
In 1992, with the decree-law n. 333 approved by the Amato Government, the privatization process of Eni began, which would see the company transform from a State entity to a joint-stock company. It was a gradual process that began in the 1990s, as part of a broad process of liberalization and privatization of public companies in Italy. Privatization contributed to an important change in the country's economy, with a shift to a more free-market-oriented model. With Franco Bernabè as CEO, a profound rationalization of Eni began, focusing the company on its core business and selling off activities considered non-strategic. In 1995, the placement of shares on the market began. This activity would conclude in 1998 with the placement of 68% of the capital on the market. INSIGHTS F.
